Ke MaMa Ke is one of the most prolific Chinese fashion designers and found fame by designing clothing for Chinese first lady and icon Peng Liyuan. She is known for her aesthetic infuses traditional Chinese elements with the modern style.
In 2007, her collection “Wu Yong”, which referenced the history of China and features superb Chinese craftsmanship was shown in the "prestigious Parisian world of haute couture" exhibition at the Victoria&Albert Museum and Paris Couture Week. There is also a poetic documentary directed by golden lion winner Jia Zhangke, which records the making of the “Wu Yong” collection and provides an intimal look at the lives of china’s garment factory workers, which was awarded the best documentary prize at the 64th Venice film festival. |
